Beni is a character who appears in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

He is an old member of the Galaxy Team who runs the Wallflower, a restaurant in Jubilife Village. He is Kamado's right-hand man. He also bears a resemblance to Wally, though the relation between the two, if any, is unknown, though it is notable to mention that when most of the characters in the game are thought to resemble those from games that take place in the future, they are their ancestors, which could mean Wally has a deep family history of being a Shinobi (see appearance for elaboration). It could also be that Beni is related to Wallace, which would mean that he is also related to the Contest Idol Star, Lisia.

Appearance[]

Beni Shinobi

Beni's Shinobi Outfit

For the majority of the game, Beni wears a dark blue haroi above a traditional pair of white slacks and shirt. He also wears a blue apron with a logo, presumably the Wallflower's, printed on it. Atop his head, a white handkerchief is tied on, keeping his hair out of his face. He slouches a lot, which changes later on. He seems to try to act senile, as he is portrayed to be quite old. He has a small mustache that just about matches the length of his upper lip, with a tiny beard protruding from his chin that travels up the side of his face into his hair. The hairs extending from his chin are gray, but when they start to travel up the side of the face, they get significantly shorter (almost completely shaved off) and turn a vibrant green.

Later in the game, when facing the player, he wears a fully white kimono and a white mask, letting his hair mostly out, while having a dark green sweatband around his forehead to keep it from interfering with his vision. He wears armor-like bracers on his biceps and forearms, secured with light blue straps. When his hair is out, it is shown to be mostly white with green highlights at the ends. Under the kimono, poking out at the chest area, we can see a netted red shirt, the color matches the string tied around his waist above his white belt (which may indicate the practice of some sort of martial art, though with Beni being a skilled Shinobi and white usually signifying novice rank, we cannot say for certain).

When fighting the player, his eyes narrow slightly further than when he is in his casual clothes, which portrays a slightly ominous tone. His pants fade into green at the bottoms, tied to his ankles by blue strings, which also secure his sandals and more of the armor-like bracers on his shins. Beni is shown to have something of an undercut while in his Shinobi outfit, which houses short, completely green hair under his white hair, almost cut completely away (as the undercut suggests). As well as his hair being out while in his Shinobi outfit, a few of the locks build on each other and stick up slightly, almost looking braided up, while more of them fall to the side as the sweatband takes effect. It should be mentioned that the bracers on his forearms are secured with blue strings that wrap around the middle finger of each hand while also secured with white fabric that travels up the back of the hand, as well as the bracers being tighter on his forearms than his biceps, giving an almost "poofy" look to his sleeves. The same effect takes place above his knees, as his shins have tighter bracers as well as his forearms.

Personality[]

Beni is a kind, wise man, serving anyone who enters his restaurant. He is also extremely intelligent and calculating, as shown when he turns out to be a Shinobi and battles the player. Due to past life experiences, as a Shinobi, he is very ruthless, even if he is kind normally. He is assigned by Kamado to do his dirty work, and when he is under the impression that the player is the reason the region is falling apart, his words are truly venomous.

Pokémon[]

When you are first able to battle Beni, he has a team of four Pokemon, primarily psychic/fighting based (it's a bit of both, as it fits with his Shinobi theme), whether it be by type or move-set. His team is composed of Mismagius, Sneasler, Gardevoir, and Gallade. Mismagius is Female, Level 59, and has the moves Shadow Ball, Power Gem, Extrasensory, and Hypnosis (the only of Beni's Pokemon to have four moves, as well as the only Pokemon to have a singular typing, being Ghost). Sneasler is Male, Level 59, and has the moves Dire Claw, Close Combat, and Quick Attack. Gardevoir is Female, Level 60, and has the moves Calm Mind, Dazzling Gleam, and Psychic. Finally, Gallade. Gallade is Male, Level 60, and has the moves Swords Dance, Drain Punch, and Psycho Cut. The second time you're able to battle Beni, things have changed. His Pokemon are all a higher level, and they all have four moves, though all the members are the same. Mismagius is Female, Level 63, and has all the previous moves it had. Sneasler is Male, Level 63, and has all of its previous moves along with the addition of Shadow Claw. Gardevoir is Female, Level 64, and has all its previous moves along with the addition of Mystical Fire. Gallade is Male, Level 64, and had all its previous moves along with the addition of Thunder Punch. Upon your third meeting with Beni, he uses only three Pokemon, each only having three moves. His team consists of Mismagius, Gardevoir, and Gallade. Mismagius is Female, Level 63, and has the moves Shadow Ball, Power Gem, and Extrasensory. Gardevoir is Female, Level 64, and has the moves Dazzling Gleam, Psychic, and Mystical Fire. Gallade is Male, Level 64, and has the moves Drain Punch, Psycho Cut, and Thunder Punch. The fourth time you meet Beni, he has started to switch things up, only having one Pokemon from his original team. His newest team so far consists of Roserade, Magnezone, and Gallade. Roserade is Female, Level 65, and has the moves Venoshock, Petal Dance, and Dazzling Gleam. Magnezone is Genderless (as they tend to be), Level 65, and has the moves Flash Cannon, Thunder, and Thunder Wave. Finally, Gallade is back, being the only Pokemon of this latest line-up to have four moves, those being its original four, Swords Dance, Drain Punch, Psycho Cut, and Thunder Punch. By the fifth meeting, Gardevoir is back, and Roserade and Magnezone have gained new moves. Roserade is Female, Level 68, and has all of its original moves plus Poison Powder. Magnezone is Genderless, Level 68, and has all of its original moves plus Hyper Beam. Gardevoir and Gallade have also swapped out their moves for new ones, as Gardevoir is now Male, Level 69, and has the moves Calm Mind, Aura Sphere, Moonblast, and Mystical Fire. Gallade is Male, Level 69, and has the moves Bulk Up, Drain Punch, Psycho Cut, and Ice Punch. For your sixth meeting with Beni, most things stay the same, though Magnezone and Roserade have both leveled up to Level 72. Gardevoir and Gallade are both Level 73, and their moves have changed as well. Gardevoir has Calm Mind, Psychic, Moonblast, and Recover, while Gallade has Bulk Up, Drain Punch, Psycho Cut, and Ice Punch. After this, for the seventh encounter and anytime you fight Beni after that, he has a team of five Pokemon, including Roserade, Magnezone, Sneasler, Gardevoir, and Gallade. Roserade is Female, Level 76, and has the moves Venoshock, Petal Dance, Dazzling Gleam, and Stun Spore. Magnezone is Genderless, Level 76, and has the moves Flash Cannon, Thunder, Thunder Wave, and Hyper Beam. Sneasler is Female, Level 76, and has the moves Dire Claw, Bulk Up, Shadow Claw, and X-Scissor. Gardevoir is Male, Level 77, and has the moves Calm Mind, Psychic, Moonblast, and Recover. Finally, Gallade is Male, Level 77, and has the moves Bulk Up, Drain Punch, Psycho Cut, and Leaf Blade.

Biography[]

When Beni was younger, he and Kamado saw their village destroyed, so, in pursuit of a better life, they moved to Hisui and built Jubilife Village with the Galaxy Team, which they co-led for a time. Later in life, Beni became the owner of the Wallflower restaurant in the village, making primarily Potato Mochi. He was also secretly a Shinobi, which Kamado knew about, but not many others did. He serves the player when they fall from the sky, and later, near the end of the game, faces them in battle. In the post-game, you can battle Beni several times.

Trivia[]

  • Beni was the one who came up with the recipe for the Smoke Ball.
