Belch is a Poison-type move introduced in Generation VI.

Description

Games Description
XYORAS The user lets out a damaging belch on the target. The user must eat a Berry to use this move.
SMUSUM
SWSH
The user lets out a damaging belch at the target. The user must eat a Berry to use this move.

Effect

The opponent is prevented from selecting this move until a berry has been used; the Pokémon must have eaten a berry by regular consumption, or by using moves like Bug Bite, Pluck, or Fling.

Once a berry has been used by the Pokémon, the move is able to be used from then on, regardless of if it has been switched out of battle.

Trivia

  • Somewhat unusually, this move can't be made usable by using an edible item on a Pokémon, even if it's a Berry.
  • Also somewhat unusually, despite (ostensibly) being related to Miltank, Tauros can't learn this move.
