Phanpy (partner) meeting Riolu (player) on the beach
The beach is a location in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky.
In the games, it is located south of the crossroads at Treasure Town. From the beach, the player can enter Beach Cave. After clearing Brine Cave, Lapras appears in the water at the beach. Talking to Lapras allows the player to go to Hidden Land.
Story[]
In Chapter 1, the player character lands unconscious on the beach. Meanwhile, the partner is at the entrance of Wigglytuff's Guild trying to no avail to work up the courage to enter and register as an apprentice. Disappointed, the partner heads to the beach at sunset to watch the bubbles float in the air. The partner finds the beach to be relaxing and uplifting. The partner then meets the player character and is ambushed by Team Skull. Koffing and Zubat take away the Relic Fragment, the partner's personal treasure, and the player and partner form an exploration team. At the Beach Cave Pit, they defeat Koffing and Zubat and get back the Relic Fragment. Back on the beach, the partner thanks the player for helping them.
In Chapter 10, after retrieving the Water Float from the Amp Clearing, the player, partner, and Dusknoir talk on the beach. After noticing lots of Pelipper flying around, they head to Wigglytuff's Guild to see that Grovyle is a wanted thief for taking time gears.
In Chapter 16, after Celebi helps the player, partner, and Grovyle barely survive an encounter with Dusknoir and Sableye in the future (which Grovyle calls a "bleak situation") and escape to the past, the player, partner, and Grovyle land on the beach. It is revealed that Grovyle is a good Pokémon, and he and the player were on a mission to collect time gears to stop the planet's paralysis.
In Chapter 17, the player and partner go to Sharpedo Bluff to read a letter written by Grovyle. Due to his high profile, he avoids Treasure Town and the Guild, leaving only two locations: Sharpedo Bluff and the beach. The letter tells them to meet him at the beach. Going to the beach ends Chapter 17 and starts Chapter 18. On the beach, they find that Grovyle isn't there. They watch the sunset, noting it would be lost if the planet is paralyzed. They notice a mysterious Pokémon, Lapras, swimming on the horizon.
A few days after Manaphy hatches from an egg from the final floor of Surrounded Sea, Manaphy asks the player and partner to take him on a walk. The three head to the beach.
Later in the game, the player and partner come here to ask Lapras about the location of Spacial Rift, but Lapras does not know where it is; however, Lapras is able to tell them about the existence of Palkia, who controls space, much like how Dialga controls time. That night, while the player and partner are back at Sharpedo Bluff, Palkia arrives and sends them to Spacial Rift.
