Aura Sphere is a Fighting-type move introduced in Generation IV.
Effect[]
In battle[]

Its power increases by 50 percent if the user has the ability Mega Launcher. It is immune to target with the ability Bulletproof.

More information about Aura Sphere can be read on Smashpedia. |
Aura Sphere has been Lucario's neutral special move in the Super Smash Bros. series since his introduction as a fighter in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When the player presses the B button, Lucario starts charigng his Aura energy into a ball, and then releases it in front of him when the player presses the button again. While an Aura Sphere is being charged, it inflicts small damage to opponents who touch it, but once Aura Sphere is fully charged, Lucario can immediately release it or hold it for later by rolling to the side or shielding. Fully-charged shots move perfectly straight, while shots that are less charged move in a wavy pattern. A fully-charged Aura Sphere travels farther and deals more damaged than an uncharged Aura Sphere.
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, the move has two variants: Snaring Aura Sphere and Piercing Aura Sphere. Snaring Aura Sphere flies much slower, but it also drags opponents closer to it after being shot. It also travels farther the less it has been charged. Piercing Aura Sphere charges faster and travels farther and faster than the regular Aura Sphere, as well as pierces through enemies and other projectiles, but it is much weaker and deals less knockback.
Trivia[]
- It is one of the four Fighting type moves that are special moves, the others being Focus Blast, Vacuum Wave, and Judgment with the Fist Plate.
- This move seems to be based on the Hadōken (Japanese for "wave motion fist") from the Street Fighter series, both typically being blue spheres of energy and even having similar names in Japanese.
- When Lucario performs this move, it does so using a similar striking pose to that of the characters from Street Fighter when they are performing the Hadōken.
- This move is performed similarly to the Kamehameha move from Dragon Ball.
- In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Riolu are able to learn Aura Sphere by leveling up. This may mean that Riolu lost the means of wielding Aura Sphere into the current timeline.
