This Pikachu was an Electric-type Pokémon owned by Ash Ketchum. He was Ash's first Pokémon. Also, Pikachu always stayed outside his Poké Ball, and could be seen riding on either Ash's head or shoulder.
Personality[]
Despite Pikachu's small size, he is one of Ash's most dependable and strongest partners. Whenever Ash was not around, Pikachu took a leadership position for the team. He was curious, friendly, intelligent and had shared Ash's fondness for battling. Pikachu was a very determined Pokémon and unwilling to give up in tough situations. He was responsible and often looked after younger Pokémon; particularly Togepi; who he was often forced to shepherd out of danger. Although he is sometimes stubborn, he had obeyed Ash's commands in battle and rarely left his side. Pikachu was also a constant target for Team Rocket. They had tried to capture him; but on the few occasions that; they did, their plans were always thwarted; by Ash and his friends. Pikachu had often used his Electric-type attacks to escape danger or traps; with Thunderbolt being one of his most common moves. He was very swift in battles as well. He could also imitate some Pokémon; by mimicking their face shapes.
Like Ash, Pikachu has a love for science and technology; even; if he cannot understand most of it. Pikachu might be oblivious to the concept of love, as seen; when Dawn's Buneary had tried to flirt; with him.
Pikachu did not like being in his Poké Ball one bit, hated someone pulling on his tail and being followed very closely.[1] He liked riding on Ash's head or shoulder.
Pikachu is best friends; with Bulbasaur, Charizard and Squirtle.
Pikachu had a strong rivalry; with most other Raichu, his evolved form. In the Sun and Moon series; during the pancake race, Pikachu had wanted to defeat an Alolan Raichu. The prime example of this rivalry was; when Lt. Surge's Raichu had defeated and injured Pikachu in the first season of the anime. This also had carried to Sho's Raichu; who also had overpowered all of Pikachu's abilities; such as his Iron Tail and Volt Tackle. In these battles, Ash and Pikachu usually had to use unconventional strategies to win.
Even in the face of losses to Raichu and other strong Pokémon, Pikachu had refused to evolve, wanting to become stronger just as he was. This trait was later shared; by his best friend, Dawn's Piplup; who was also given the chance to evolve; but also had refused and was given an Everstone to prevent it.

Ash Ketchum[]
Ash and Pikachu were best friends and partners; even though they had a rough start, they were nearly inseparable. Pikachu had always been on Ash's side during his journey, and enjoyed sitting on his shoulder or head since Pikachu was always reluctant to stay inside his Poké Ball. They always had each other's back no matter what and they would do anything to protect each other from danger. At times, Pikachu and Ash did butt heads but they didn't stay mad at each other for long showing how tight there bond is.
Pikachu's teammates[]
Pikachu cared very much about his teammates and he considered them family. Pikachu always formed a strong relationship with some or all of the members of Ash's team in every region they traveled to. Also, Pikachu would risk his safety to protect them no matter what. Pikachu was a role model for many of his teammates and enjoyed training with them for battles. Whenever one of his teammates would fight with the other, Pikachu would stop or break up the fighting between them. Whenever one of his teammates left Ash's party, Pikachu was saddened but knew that their friendship would endure the distance no matter where they went.
