This Stantler, nicknamed Antch, is a normal-type Pokémon owned by Professor Oak.

Gold encountered Professor Oak and his Stantler, who were looking for the thief that stole the Pokédex.[1] Gold became interested in the Pokédex, to which Professor Oak wanted to test his strength, to wield such a device. His Stantler used Confuse Ray, which confused Gold's Aibo. Gold caught Aibo before it could fell, while Professor Oak doubted Gold was good enough.[2]
Professor Oak wanted to catch some Slugma for his research. However, he failed to catch the Pokémon, and thought he was getting too old.[3]
Stantler and Ledyba appeared on screen with Professor Oak, who explained to the audience, during the Gym Leaders' tournament, about Steel-type Pokémon.[4] One morning, Professor Oak woke up late. Since he had to attend a radio show, he went on Stantler to Goldenrod City.[5] Emerald observed Professor Oak and his Pokémon, and followed them to ask the man to give him a Pokédex.[6]

When Scott spoke with the Frontier Brains, he remembered Professor Oak and his Pokémon, for it was that scientist that calculated on which day and place Jirachi would appear.[7]
