Amaura (アマルス Amarusu) is a Rock-Ice-type Fossil Pokémon introduced in Generation VI. It can be revived from the Sail Fossil. It is Tyrunt's counterpart.

Biology

Physiology

Amaura is a small, dinosaur-like Pokémon with a pink-tipped membrane on the top of its small head. Its skin is light blue in color and its stomach has a white diamond shape on the underside. This blue-eyed Pokémon has a long neck with a blue gem on either side of its body. It was restored from a frozen fragment.

Habitat

In the ancient world Amaura's cold habitat kept predators at bay.

Evolution

In order to obtain Amaura, it must be resurrected from the Sail Fossil. Amaura evolves into Aurorus from level 39 onwards during night time.

  • No Pokémon other than Amaura and its evolution Aurorus has unique type matchup of rock/ice.

Origin

Amaura is most likely based on a sauropod dinosaur with the inspiration of the Aurora Borealis (referencing its ice type on how Aurora Borealis often appears in snowy biomes.

Etymology

Its name comes from the sauropod which it is likely based on, "amargasaurus" and "aurora".
