Amarys is a character appearing in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero (The Indigo Disk). She is a student attending Blueberry Academy and one of the members of BB League's Elite Four. Her specialty is Steel type Pokémon.
Appearance[]
Amarys is a slender young girl with dark skin, black hair with four hairclips resembling screws, gray eyeglasses, and turquoise eyes. She wears a blue Blueberry Academy uniform, a red single glove and grey boots.
Personality[]
Amarys maintains a reserved, cool exterior, but deep down, she also cares for her friends.
She has a habit of looking at her stopwatch in order to look at the time and calculate when to do something, such as leaving to handle other affairs or when to Terastallize her Pokémon. She also abides by the academy rules, unwilling to make unofficial accommodations for others. If the rules are officially changed however, she will comply with the change with no objections.
It is heavily implied that she has a crush on Kieran, as whenever she thinks of him, she feels off, though when she visits the nurse's office, she is told nothing is wrong with her. Whenever something throws her off, her glasses will fog.
Etymology[]
Amarys' name comes from "Amaryllidaceae", a family of plants that includes the Nerine genus.
Her Japanese name, Nerine, comes from the genus of flowering plants "Nerine".
Biography[]
Amarys is the second-weakest of the BB League's Elite Four members. She is good friends with Carmine and also doubles as the president of the student council.
The player first encounters her when fellow member Drayton calls the other members and Kieran to the academy's cafeteria regarding the player joining the league tournament. After Lacey remarks that they couldn't because of the rules, Amarys agrees with her decision. Kieran ultimately sides with Drayton and Crispin, thus resulting in her accepting the new outcome without objection.
Upon reaching her Elite Four arena, Amarys tasks the player with completing a flying trial in a set amount of time. The player uses their Koraidon/Miraidon for the task, of which she feeds them supplements to fly for the duration of the trial. She mistakenly calls it "Agias", believing that its cry was its actual name, though the player does not correct her over it. Once the task is completed, the player can challenge her to a battle; before they start, she asks them of their view on Kieran, noting that his behavior had taken a sudden change for the worse. After defeating her, she states that her care for Kieran was not enough, though the player has the option to reassure her. She then takes a picture with them and hands them the Hard Press TM.
She later spectates the player's match against Kieran, which he ultimately loses again. Amarys remains silent, though she is saddened by his loss.
After completing the storyline, the player can return to Amarys again, who will feed Koraidon/Miraidon even more supplements, allowing them to permanently fly in the process, while offering a harder version of the flying trial. She can also be found in the club room; defeating her three times will allow the player to trade a Pokémon for a Skarmory.
