Alcremie (Japanese: マホイップ, HepburnMahoippu) is a Fairy-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII. It has a Gigantamax form.

Biology[]

Physiology[]

Alcremie is a vaguely mammalian Pokémon resembling a cake. Its small head has a large tuft of cream on top, as well as two ears with a topping on each one. It has oval-shaped eyes that change color based on the topping, small eyebrows resembling dots, and a small mouth with no visible nose. There are about 63 known different variations in colors and toppings (each with a different flavor), plus 7 different forms of shiny Alcremie. The color of its cream varies while its eye color will match whatever toppings are on its head.

Gigantamax Alcremie's body resembles a towering, five-tiered cake. The apical tier of the cake resembles Alcremie's regular body, though it's wearing a bow and its whipped-cream "hair" is styled into a flamboyant swoop. Each of the bottom layers of the cake feature an assortment of the Sweets that can be used to evolve Alcremie from Milcery.

The first tier of its body is frosted yellow and adorned with an alternating row of Star Sweets and dotted frosting. The second tier is frosted pink and features a magenta frosting bow topped with a Clover Sweet. The third tier is frosted blue and encircled with a row of Flower Sweet. Additionally, the front of the third tier features an arch of Berry Sweets. The fourth tier is also frosted pink and encircled with Love Sweet, with the ventral candied heart being a little larger than the rest. Dollops of whipped cream encircle Gigantamax Alcremie's body between each of its tiers.

Behavior[]

Alcremie is often adored and highly cherished by Galarian pastry chefs for its apparently delicious cream. Alcremie's happiness determines the flavor of their cream, which can also be tied to the Trainers owning or taking care of them.[1]

When being attacked, Alcremie will toss its sweet-scented cream to temporarily distract or blind opponents so as to buy itself enough time to escape.

Alcremie will launch high-calorie cream missiles around itself to attack its opponents. Any Pokémon that touches this cream will be filled with energy and euphoria but at the same time will fall into a state of complete confusion.

Natural abilities[]

Alcremie's cream has an incredibly soothing effect which can cause an opponent to rapidly lose its will to battle when eaten.

Gigantamax Alcremie's cream gains durability if exposed to physical blows; the more damage it sustains, the harder the cream becomes. In addition, the toppings covering all over Gigantamax Alcremie's body have hardness exceeding that of a diamond and cannot be dented.

In battle, Gigantamax Alcremie is capable of launching cream projectiles around itself to attack its opponents. The cream projectiles are extremely high in calories and will cause anyone to be filled with energy at the cost of confusion.

The cream pouring out of Gigantamax Alcremie's body hardens when subjected to impacts—the stronger the impact, the harder it becomes. This gives Alcremie a truly impressive resistance to physical attacks. Additionally, the giant "Berry" decorations on Alcremie's body are as hard as diamonds, and it's said that most attacks won't even be able to leave a scratch.

Evolution[]

Alcremie has nine different-flavored body forms, which evolve from Milcery based on how long the player spins, the direction of the spin, and the time of day. Each form can have one of seven Sweet decorations (Strawberry, Berry, Love, Star, Clover, Flower and Ribbon) based on which Sweet Milcery is holding when it evolves. The nine different cream types are:

  • 869 Vanilla Cream: Spin clockwise for 5 seconds during the day.
  • 869RC Ruby Cream: Spin counterclockwise for 5 seconds during the day.
  • 869MaC Matcha Cream: Spin clockwise for 5 seconds during the night.
  • 869SC Salted Cream: Spin counterclockwise for 5 seconds during the night.
  • 869CS Caramel Swirl: Spin clockwise for more than 5 seconds during the day.
  • 869RuS Ruby Swirl: Spin counterclockwise for more than 5 seconds during the day.
  • 869LC Lemon Cream: Spin clockwise for more than 5 seconds during the night.
  • 869MiC Mint Cream: Spin counterclockwise for more than 5 seconds during the night.
  • 869RaS Rainbow Swirl: Spin counterclockwise for more than 10 seconds during dusk.

Trivia[]

  • Not including Spinda's patterns, Alcremie has the most unique forms, with 63 of them.
    • Including its Shiny forms, Alcremie has 70 colorations.
  • The official artwork shows a Vanilla Cream Strawberry Alcremie.
  • Alcremie is tied with Minior for being in the most color groups, each appearing in six different groups.

Origin[]

Alcremie is based on several dessert foods including whipped cream, fruits, and might also take reference to the Whipped Dream item. Appropriate to the term and allusion of alchemy, being the methodology or magical arts to transmutate base materials into more valuable materials; churning milk into cream can refer to such a process, hence Alcremie evolving from Milcery.

Its Gigantamax Form is based on a wedding cake and may also take inspiration from past food items in Pokémon games, such as Poké Puffs, Poffins or Pokéblocks.

Etymology[]

Alcremie comes from "alchemy", "creamy", and "cutie". It may also come from "a la mode" (served with ice-cream).

Its Japanese name, Mahoippu, comes from "maho" (magic) and "hoippu" (whipped cream).
