This Tyranitar is a Rock/Dark-type Pokémon owned by Alain.

Tyranitar was used in Alain's six-on-six battle against Ash in the Lumiose Conference. It went up against Ash's Pikachu and it unleashed its Sand Stream ability to create a sandstorm in the battlefield. Tyranitar started with Dark Pulse, but missed, causing the attack to hit some rocks. Pikachu, however, used Iron Tail on the field's stream, which caused the water to splash and stop the sandstorm. Tyranitar, who got soaked by the water, got electrocuted by Pikachu's Thunderbolt. Pikachu used Electro Ball, which was countered by Tyranitar's Stone Edge. Tyranitar started punching the rocks, causing fragments to be thrown onto Pikachu, who reflected them with Iron Tail. Tyranitar managed to stop Pikachu's Iron Tail with Crunch and toss him away. In the end, Pikachu launched Electro Ball, which defeated Tyranitar.
