Tyranitar was used in Alain's six-on-six battle against Ash at the Lumiose Conference. It went up against Ash's Pikachu and it unleashed its ability, Sand Stream, to create a sandstorm in the battlefield. Tyranitar started with Dark Pulse, but missed, causing the attack to hit some rocks. Pikachu, however, used Iron Tail on the field's stream, which caused the water to splash and stop the sandstorm. Tyranitar, who got soaked by the water, was electrocuted by Pikachu's Thunderbolt. Pikachu used Electro Ball, which was countered by Tyranitar's Stone Edge. It started punching the rocks, causing fragments to be thrown onto Pikachu, who reflected them with Iron Tail. Tyranitar managed to stop Pikachu's Iron Tail with Crunch and toss him away. In the end, Pikachu launched Electro Ball, which defeated Tyranitar.[1]
