Anyways, I am happy to announce the Discussions Feedback Form. This is an opportunity for users to share their opinions, issues, and feedback through an anonymous form. This will be read by myself and others in a few weeks time over on Discord. We will be hosting the first-ever wiki Feedback meeting. More details for the meeting will be revealed in the future.

We will be going over the responses and finding ways to improve the system and rules.

This form is anonymous, so don't feel held back if you are worried about saying anything too bad. Constructive criticism is allowed !!

Welcome to the third annual Pokemon Wiki awards, users!

My name is Unbound, and I am your host for this year, filling the shoes of @/Fulminata89B, who, due to reasons will no longer be able to continue this tradition.

This year was very big for the wiki. First, we had the release of the Epilogue to the Hidden Treasures of Area Zero expansion pass to Scarlet and Violet, which brought back activity to the game and the wiki. In February, we had the Pokemon Presents release a bunch of new information, announcing the release of Pokemon TGC Pocket and Sleep, large mobile games that join the leagues of Pokemon Go. The video also announced the development of Pokemon Legends: ZA. In the middle of the year, our latest thread moderator @ShadowKitsune85 was promoted to join the team, adding to a total of 7 thread moderators. We also had the fast promotions of @Gematarix , flying from a regular user to content mod to eventually administrator. There was also the partnership between the Pokemon Wiki and the Otherlands Wiki, the retirement of @/GaryOakk and @/EnergyX, the mass promotions of many new rollbacks and content mods, some crucial rule changes, potential upcoming administration changes and much more!

So what is the Elite Awards? It is a way to recognise the users who have had the largest impact this year! Users will nominate other users to receive awards in a specific category. The categories are currently not finalised but the official nomination thread and categories will be released in early December. Unlike previous years where users wouldn’t get anything, I will be introducing a new page similar to the Hall of Fame page to be added to the wiki’s Category:Project (if it's okay with the admins), and some shiny badges that you can add to your user page. You also get the recognition from fellow users that what you do is good (also bragging rights 👀).

How does it work?

Here, anyone can nominate at most two users for each award. The nomination thread will run for two weeks before being locked. After that, the top six users nominated for each award (defined as the users with the most nominations for that award) will be placed in a poll, which will then run for a week. After that, the polls will be deleted while the mods tally up the winner for each award. The winners will be announced sometime early in January 2024.

To manage the amount of replies to these posts, this will serve as the discussion post for the awards while the nominations post will be for nominations only.

Current categories are:

• Most Active - awarded to the person who is most frequently contributing to the discussion board

• (Thread) Staff OTY - awarded to a staff member who has had the biggest impact on the d-board this year

• Admin OTY - given to the admin who has helped tidy up the wiki the most this year and has had the biggest impact. (This and the staff OTY award include staff who formerly had rights this year)

• Most Helpful - given to the user who is considered most helpful and friendly towards all. This can be done by reporting rule-breaking posts to the Centre Post.

• Best Contest - given to the user who has hosted the best contest this year

• Best Roleplay - given to the user who has hosted the best roleplay this year

• Artist OTY - given to the user who has considerably created the best and/or most artwork this year.

• Blue Moon - a special award given to a user who isn’t active a lot, but when they are it is worth the wait. What they lack in quantity they make up for in quality.

• Funniest User OTY - given to the user who has made you laugh with their humour

• New User OTY - awarded to a user who joined the wiki this year and has had a large impact on discussions

• Dynamic Duo - given to two users who are friends and are seemingly always active at the same time. They contribute together and are just overall better together.

• 2024 Pokemon Wiki User OTY - A prestigious award given to the user who had the biggest, best impact on the Wiki in 2024. They are the best, or the coolest, or the loudest, or whatever. Whatever it is, you’re always glad to see this person online.

Hello, trainers! We've waited a long time for the links policy to be updated, and while this may not be the absolute final update, I hope this update strikes a fair balance between the staff team and the rest of our community who learn a lot from external links. However, just a few pointers to mention:

* Just because someone else posted a link doesn't always mean you must click on it. We are not responsible for the behaviour you cause afterwards just because you clicked a link to something that triggered you.

* Your post containing a link may be deleted on the spot to be checked for verifiability, so if you see your post being deleted, don't rant on a separate post about what just happened! The staff will let you know on the Pokémon Center Post if the link was deemed to have violated one of our policies.

* Other discussions board policies, for example AI art or links to fan-art by a user who's not from the fandom, would still be enforced by our staff team, and the Mixed Media Post should still be used for such posts.

Here was what rule #2 of the General guidelines originally looked like:

2: It is strictly forbidden to ask for or share any sensitive information or links. Likewise, impersonating individuals is not permitted.

2.1: Sharing or requesting links for Pokémon ROM hacks or illegal emulators is strictly forbidden. Screenshot sharing is included.

2.2: Sharing own/others' usernames of other irrelevant sites is strictly prohibited.

And this is what the rule now looks like:

2.1: Links to Pokémon ROM hacks or illegal emulators.

2.4: Links to yours or other users' content with the intent of promoting or advertising.

The "impersonation of individuals" policy rule have been moved to distinguish it from links. The wording of the policy itself hasn't changed:

===Roleplays===

On a separate note, I've gone ahead and increased the number of roleplay slots to 2. With roleplays becoming a success this year, users can now choose to participate in another roleplay while continuing their existing one. The roleplay guidelines remain the same as before. Just a reminder for regular role players to ping moderators or use the "Report Reply" button for posts which break roleplay rules, and they should be able to deal with the matter accordingly.

Hello all, I’ve noticed an influx of newer users recently, and i also noticed that a lot of you are just creating posts and leaving them in the General category. I’m sending this message out to politely remind you guys to categorize them, so the mods don’t have to do it. This not only lets the moderators focus on bigger problems, but also lets users find posts of a specific type easier.

When creating a new post, click on this drop-down menu and choose which category that your post fits

If you’re unsure as to what category your posts fit in, please refer to this guide

• General: For any discussion post that doesn’t fit any category (A post will almost always fit one of the categories, so if you are unsure which one it fits, ask a moderator on the PC post)

• Fan Creations: Share self-made artwork or any fan content post under this category.

• Theories/Opinions: Can share theories and opinions under this category. (Ex. Tier List, what is your favorite ____)

• Polls: Can make polls under this category.

• Fun and Games: This is the category for game posts such as the daily Atlas post, or for any posts relating to the video games.

• Anime and Manga: Can make anime or manga related posts under this category.

• Events and Contests: This is the category for anything contest related. Only posts that are authorized by staff on the Pokémon Center Post can be used under this category.

• Important posts: Can comment on Indefinite-running posts created and hosted by staff. Posts under this category will be made by staff only.

• Staff Announcements: Staff use this category to announce updates, news, etc. Posts under this category will be made by staff only.

• Roleplay: Can host roleplays under this category. Only posts that are authorized by staff on the Pokémon Center Post can be used under this category.

Hello again, Trainers! I'm pleased to announce that I have implemented some important updates to our wiki's Communication Policy. Complaints have been raised (once again) about the all-caps rule. We initially had a discussion with staff back in January, and was able to reach a consensus, but as time went on regular users (and some staff too) found the rules to be too confusing. Here's the full July update of the proposed changes: GG (General guidelines) 4.1* and 4.2 have now been removed from the policy. In the (Discussions Guidelines) section, DG 1 has been updated:

DG 1 Reposting and spamming are not allowed. Doing either of these will be regarded as attention-seeking. Users that violate these rules may have their posts removed, with a notice being given by any Discussions Moderator.

DG 1.1 However, if your post has less than three comments, you can message an active Discussions Moderator to request your post to be locked, and then repost.

DG 1.2 Spamming is defined as making more than three unanswered comments.

*The Spamming rule effectively hasn't been removed, but moved to a new guideline.

This was the revision of the following rules back in January prior to the update:

GG 4.1: "Spamming is defined as making more than three identical comments, or using excessive emoticons. The latter can create unnecessary hysteria."

GG 4.2: "Typing in all capital letters is fine, as long as it's not excessive that it takes over the reply.

DG 1: "Reposting is not allowed."

Hopefully with this significant change that we can maintain a fair environment for both the staff and regular users alike. However, there's still a possibility that the all-caps (and emoji) rules may return (either fully or partial) if we recognise other users abusing the absence of the rule in unsavoury ways, so please take advantage of this benefit at a respectful level.
