TRIGGER WARNING FOR IMPLICATIONS OF A SUICIDE ATTEMPT
Vanity and Marv hugged each other as they walked. “Vanity... if we keep walking like this we’re gonna fall behind-” Marv looked embarrassed.
Vanity smiled. “C’mon, stop acting like you’re not enjoying it!”
“Can you two stop cuddling and pay attention?!” Watt looked annoyed.
“Pay attention to what? That ‘special Pokemon’ could be a million miles away!” Vanity was completely disinterested in everything except for Marv.
Viisi stopped walking and turned around. “You weren’t actually planning on helping us, were you?”
Marv froze for a moment. “Vanity just wanted to talk to Watt about somethi-”
“YOU’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BLOW MY COVER!!!” Vanity pushed Marv away from her and folded her arms.
Watt sighed. “If you want to tell me something, you should probably just say it…”
Vanity side-eyed Viisi. “I can’t just say it… I don’t wanna embarrass you in front of everyone…”
Visii turned around and started walking again. “I don’t have time for this.” Marv awkwardly followed her.
Vanity smirked. “Someone sounds a bit angry-” Vanity was cut off by loud stomping coming from the forest.
Before anyone could react, a large Electivire emerged from the forest and crashed onto the path, landing flat on its face. Everyone just stared at the Electivire for a few seconds before Watt quickly threw a Pokeball at it, hitting it in the back of its head. The ball caught it, shook once, and then went completely still.
“Well then…” Watt walked toward the Pokeball and picked it up. “I guess that makes me the winner…”
“Are you sure you actually caught it? Pokeballs usually click when you catch something…” Marv had a worried look on his face.
Watt looked down at the Pokeball. “Hm…It looks fine to me. We should probably show this to Mrs. Pal so she knows I wo-” The Pokeball quickly heated up and exploded, wounding Watt’s hand and instantly sending out Electivire.
Watt fell backward while clutching his hand. He sat there, wincing in pain before finally realizing the Elecivire towering over him. “U-uh… Please don’t kill me…” He chuckled.
The Electivire stared at Watt for a few moments before becoming enraged. “VIRE!!!” Electivire angrily swung its fist at Watt, who barely dodged by jumping backward.
“Watt, we need to run… right now.” Vanity slowly backed away from the Electivire.
“What about Viisi and Marv?” Watt quickly backed away from the Electivire. It looked like it was ready to sprint at any second.
“They’ll be fine!!!” Vanity grabbed Watt’s wrist and dashed away from Electivire.
“That thing is only trying to kill you, so all we have to do is lead it away and hide!”
Electivire started sprinting at Watt, causing the ground to shake as it quickly sped up. “VIRE!”
Watt looked backward, trying to see what Viisi and Marv were doing, but all he could see was the Electivire getting dangerously close to him. “Vanity!? We should probably try running into the forest…!”
Vanity didn’t respond. Watt wasn’t sure if she was even listening. The Electivire’s hands became engulfed in electricity as it readied an attack.
“VANITY?!” Watt was starting to panic. He could hear electricity crackling behind him, slowly getting louder as he ran. Watt closed his eyes, anticipating the impact, but just as he felt something graze the back of his head, he was forcefully pulled to the side.
. . .
As Fantaisa walked forward the hum of the electric fence slowly became clearer. She rubbed her eyes, making sure there were no leftover tears. She reached into her pocket and grabbed her Pichu’s Pokeball.
Sending him out would get her disqualified from the challenge, but she couldn’t care less. She turned around and tossed the Pokeball, sending out her Pichu, who instantly climbed up onto her shoulder.
Fantaisa smiled and scooped him up with her hands. “Pico? Can you go get my diary..? I… I need to write something down.”
Pico happily nodded. “Pichu!” He jumped off of her hands and hopped down the dirt path.
Fantaisa sighed, letting the smile fade from her face. She started walking closer to the fence, only stopping when she was less than a step away from touching it. From this distance, the buzzing of electricity was almost deafening. She wasn't sure if the voltage was enough to kill her, but there was only one way to find out.
Fantaisa took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and grabbed the fence.
Everything would be better this way.
