In 1st place: Generation III has the highest amount of Pokémon that can Mega Evolve, at 20.
2nd place: Generation I has the second highest, at 13.
3rd place: Generation II has 6.
4th Place: Generation IV has 5.
5th Place: A tie between Generation V and Generation VI that only have one Pokémon each (Audino and Diancie, respectively).
I have a lot of favorites, especially the third generation Pokémon. Here's my favorite Mega Evolution Pokémon in a list: Mega Audino, Mega Manectric, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Gallade, Mega Banette, Mega Sableye, Mega Absol, Mega Lucario, Mega Altaria, Mega Amphoros, Mega Heracross, Mega Aggron, Mega Salamence, Mega Lucario, Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Pidgeot.
All of the babies are super cute. Some of my favorite cute Pokémon are the Igglybuff evolution line as well as Togepi, Happiny (in which both along with Igglybuff are baby Pokémon), Trapinch and Indeedee quite a lot of my favorite Pokémon are super duper adorable.
