I think Scald just had its distribution nerved because it was maybe too reliable water stab...

As for intrepid sword and dauntless shield, zacian decimated gen 8 VGC restricted formats so it had to be nerfed and because zamazenta is paired with it, it also took a bst nerf too. Protean (and also Libero) was also likely nerfed because either they interfered with tera, someone at gamefreak saw greninja and cinderace use that ability to tear smogon to bits, or both.
