Me and Waterking had gone into our nests after saying goodbye and good night to everyone after we had finished eating. He was laying on his back, looking at the ceiling.”
“Today was a little hectic, wasn’t it?” I glanced over at him. He was smiling. “So much has happened! But, I feel relieved that our very first job ended successfully.”
“Yeah.” I added. “But I’m still a bit upset about how most of the money goes to the Guild.”
He turned his head to look over at me. “Well… That’s just the cost of training, I guess. Not like we can do much about it anyway.” Waterking looked back up at the ceiling and yawned. “What was your favorite part of today? Mine was probably when we got thanked by Spoink for bringing back his Pearl.”
“I guess that mine was-” He was already sleeping while I was answering him. I shifted in my nest and closed my eyes.
***
I groaned as Loudred’s voice racketed through my ears. “Come ON now! Time to wake UP!” Though my ears were still ringing, I could hear his footsteps going back down the hallway.
“Good morning, Firequeen.” My partner said, getting up and stretching.
When we arrived out into the main room, the others were already on the third morning chant. We quickly joined in, hoping that no one had noticed. “THREE! SMILES GO FOR MILES!”
Chatot fluttered his wings cheerfully. “Alright Pokemon! Time for you all to get to work!”
Waterking and I looked at each other because we weren’t sure what to do. We both looked over to Chatot when he started talking again. “Ah… Are you two still lost? I would like you to follow me.” Climbing back up the ladder, the three of us stopped in front of a board. Waterking looked at the board, then back at the bulletin board that we were at yesterday.
“Huh? Why are we over here? We got Spoink’s job from that board yesterday.”
“Yes.” Chatot nodded. “You did get it from over there. But for today, I’ll have you try one from this board.”
I raised an eyebrow. “What makes this one different from the other?” Chatot motioned for us to move forwards and look at the papers pinned on the wall.
“Hey!” Waterking exclaimed. “These papers have a variety of different Pokemon on them! They look so cool… Are they famous explorers or something?” He said excitedly.
Chatot’s smile turned into a frown. “Well you see… These Pokemon… Are outlaws. Shady characters. These are their wanted posters for the crimes they have committed.”
My partner stumbled backwards a little. “Ou-Outlaws?” He stuttered.
“Correct. That means that they have bounties on their heads. Which means, if you catch one and turn them in, you’ll get a cash reward for it.” Chatot sighed. “There are so many aggressive Pokemon showing up these days, and everyone is finding it hard to keep up with the problems they’re causing.”
“Hold on.” I interrupted. “You’re telling me that you want us to go and catch these Pokemon?”
“I hope you’re not serious, because that’s not possible!” Waterking added in with worry in his voice.
Chatot grinned and started laughing. “It’s a joke, a joke! The outlaws have different… Shades, you could say, of how bad they are. Some are just small thieves, but some are absolutely wicked. So, in that saying, there’s naughty to evil, and all of those in between. I do believe we can avoid giving you a job with a super bad Pokemon.” He turned back to the board. “For today, I’ll let you look over the posters and choose one that looks weak to you.”
“You say they’re weak…” Waterking started. He was looking down at the ground. “But they’re still dangerous, aren’t they? Thinking about facing any kind of dangerous Pokemon makes me scared.”
“I’m sure you two will work it through. It’s all a part of your training.”
I'm pretty sure it's a bit longer than the other chapters
Chapter 10: https://pokemon.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000003603572
“This is the job bulletin board. Pokemon that are from various places come and post things on here when they need help with something. You are aware that there are many bad Pokemon that are showing up in bigger numbers, yes?”
Waterking nodded. “Yeah! It’s because the flow of time has gone all weird. It’s creating havoc, right? And that’s why many bad Pokemon are appearing!
I looked at my partner in surprise. The flow if time is getting messed up? Like… Time? As in hours and minutes? That kind? Is there something going wrong with the time here? And because of that, more and more bad Pokemon are popping up? My mind went back to Zubat and Koffing. Are they bad Pokemon? Have they been doing other bad things
When Chatot nodded it took my focus back up to him. “Precisely.” He said. “The fact that time is going all out of whack has made bad Pokemon show up more than usual. Maybe because of that, we have been seeing an increase in the number of jobs. And… It is not known if this is related to the time’s influence… We have been seeing a mass outbreak of Mystery Dungeons.
Mystery Dungeons
“So Firequeen!” Waterking had turned to me and started talking. “You know how we got my stone back yesterday? That place that we went to, Beach Cave, is a Mystery Dungeon. Mystery Dungeons change every single time you go into it. There's a different layout of the floors and even the items change! But… If you faint in the middle of one then you lose half your money. There’s also a chance that you could lose half of your items or even more. And lastly, when you faint you get kicked right out! They are very strange places. There’s always new things to explore when you go in though! Fantastic places to go exploring in!
Chatot fluttered his feathers. “You sure are quite informed now aren’t you!” He said to Waterking. “This makes my job of explaining easier.” He turned to face both of us. “All jobs take place in Mystery Dungeons. So, I would like you to take this one.” He handed us the paper he had grabbed. On it was a drawing of a Pokemon with words put neatly around it. The picture was a Spoink
“Let’s read it!” The Piplup said, taking the paper and looking down at it
“Hi! My name is Spoink! An outlaw has run off with my most prized possession. That being my precious pearl! To me… That pearl is life itself! If that pearl isn’t on my head, its proper place, I just can’t seem to settle down! But I have heard that it has been spotted! It has been said to be on Rocky Bluff, but that Bluff is extremely dangerous. There’s no way I could go somewhere so frightening! Whoever is friendly enough to read this, would you please go and retrieve my pearl? I’m begging for your help, Exploration Team members! From, Spoink.
“Wait a minute.” Waterking said, peering closer at the paper. “We’re going to fetch an item that someone dropped!? I would rather do something that’s more adventurous.” It looked like his eyes had sparkles in them. “I’d rather look for treasure or explore some unknown places. Things like that!
Chatot snapped at him. “Hush!” Waterking yelped. “It is important that you two rookies pay your dues! Pay attention! I’ll repeat the warnings to make sure they stick! If either of you faints, you’ll be kicked out of the dungeon and sent back here. You’ll lose half your money if that happens! Be careful! Even half of your items or more will be gone too!” His feathers fluttered. “If you understood all that, then I suggest that you get on with the job.
“Uhhh… Yeah.” Waterking said as we walked out of the Guild
It is very compact because there is a lot of talking
Chapter 7: https://pokemon.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000003581407
I was jolted awake by a loud yelling racketing my ears. “HEY! YOU TWO! RISE AND SHINE!”
What a ridiculously loud voice! My eardrums will get destroyed! I shifted my wing off of my eye and peeked it open.
“Why are you still ASLEEP? Wake UP already!” I opened my eyes all the way. Loudred was standing at the entrance of our room. Waterking picked himself off his nest.
“My poor ears…”
“Snap out of it! I’m a fellow APPRENTICE and you better not be late for the morning briefing! Or you’ll be SORRY!”
“Why’s that?” I asked.
“Because. Guildmaster Wigglytuff has a BIG temper. If he loses it…” Loudred turned around and shuttered. “Now THAT would be a scary scene!” He turned back to face us. “So ANYWAY, I’m not going to get in trouble because some ROOKIES got up LATE!” He stomped out of the room.
“My ears are still ringing…” Waterking murmured again. “What was that he said? Something about getting ready?”
Both of us jumped away at the same time. “That’s right!” We said to each other.
“We signed up as apprentices yesterday.” I said, looking down and shifting my badge into the right position. “But that means-”
“We overslept!” Waterking ended the sentence for me. We both scrambled out of our nests and ran out of the hallway.
“You’re LATE!” Loudred shouted from where seven other Pokemon were lined up in two rows.
“Hush!” Chatot snapped. “You’re ridiculously loud!” Loudred kept quiet. “Everyone seems to be here and present.” He said, calmer. As I looked around, the Pokemon that were lined up other than me, Waterking, and Loudred were a Croagunk, Dugtrio, Bidoof, Sunflora, Chimecho, Diglett, and a Corphish.
“Very well.” Chatot said in a happier tune. “Let us conduct our morning address.” He turned towards the two doors leading to the Guildmaster’s room. “Oh Guildmaster! Everyone is here and accounted for!” The doors quickly opened and Wigglytuff walked out. “Thank you. Please address everyone.”
Wigglytuff hadn’t moved, just stood there with his eyes open. Small sounds that sounded like snoring came from him. I heard a whisper coming from one of the other Apprentices. ‘Wow! Guildmaster Wigglytuff never fails to amaze me!’
‘Yeah! You sure got that right!’
‘Yup, looks like he’s wide awake.’
‘Eek! But his eyes are wide open! And yet he’s fast asleep!’
Chatot nodded. “Thank you sir. We all value your… Your… Words of wisdom! Ok every Pokemon! Take our Guildmaster’s words of wisdom to heart! And now, we must not forget our morning cheers! All together now!”
Me and Waterking looked at each other before the others started chanting.
“A ONE! A TWO! A ONE-TWO-THREE!”
“ONE! DON’T SHIRK WORK!”
“TWO! RUN AWAY AND PAY!”
“THREE! SMILES GO FOR MILES!”
“Ok, every Pokemon! Get to work!” Chatot said smiling.
“HOORAY!” Everyone shouted. They all started spreading out. Dugtrio and Diglett went underground, Wigglytuff went back to his room, Corphish, Sunflora, and Bidoof went up the ladder, and Croagunk, Chimecho, and Loudred went left on the floor we’re already on.
Me and Waterking weren’t sure what to do, so we began walking over to the ladder.
“Hold up!” We stopped and turned around to see Chatot looking at us. “You two shouldn’t just be wandering around. Come over here.” We followed him as he went up the ladder. He hopped over and stopped in front of one of the boards that we saw yesterday when we came in. “You’re just beginners, so we’ll have you start with this assignment.” He said, reaching up and pulling a paper off of the bulletin board.
I glanced over at Waterking and he looked really excited. “Our first task as an Exploration Team!”
Sorry it's a lot longer than the others. I had to shove a lot in there
Chapter 6: https://pokemon.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000003575672
Chatot pushed open the doors, walking in with us following. A Pokemon who seemed to be ‘Wigglytuff’ was standing in the middle of the room. “Guildmaster.” Chatot began. “We have two Pokemon that are wanting to become apprentices for an Exploration Team.” Wigglytuff had not answered. Me and Waterking gave each other questioning looks.
“Guildma-” Chatot began again, before he was interrupted
“Hiya! I’m Wigglytuff!” He suddenly turned around, which made me and Waterking jump in surprise. “I’m the Guildmaster of this place! So you’re wanting to form your own Exploration Team? Let’s go for it then!
“But- But we can’t just let them in right away!” Chatot exclaimed, surprised
“Why not?” Wigglytuff asked
“B-Because! They just showed up! They don’t have any experience!
“No matter! We’ll teach them!” Chatot was about to talk again when he was interrupted by a loud noise. “YOOM-TAH!” The sound had come from the Guildmaster. He had spun around in a circle and placed a treasure box in front of us. “Go on. Open it!
Me and Waterking both pushed it open. Inside was a map, a bag, and two Badges. “This is your Explorer Kit!” Wigglytuff smiled. “There’s a map with the different places to explore, a bag to hold more items, and Badges that mark you’re an Exploration Team!
“Wow-” Waterking said, lifting up his Badge to study it. I took mine and fastened it on my chest. He did the same. “They look so cool!
“Chatot, you should show them their room.” Chatot nodded, and walked out of the room
“Follow me.” We did so, and he closed the doors behind us. He walked forwards and to the left into a long-ish hallway. We went all the way to the last room in the back. It had a window on the left side and two straw beds. “It’s almost dark. You should get some rest and we’ll start tomorrow. Don’t be late!” He walked away, looking slightly irritated
Waterking chose the bed closest to the wall. We both settled down, and I rested my head on the edge of my nest. What a tiring day. I thought. How did I become a Pokemon? Why? Will I be like this forever
“Good night.” Waterking mumbled, his back facing towards me
“Night.” I stared out the window a bit longer at the moon before my eyelids were too tired and I fell asleep
Chapter 5: https://pokemon.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000003573517
We were, yet again, in front of the grate on the ground. Waterking took a deep breath as he walked up and stood on it. The feathers on the back of his head seemed to stand up slightly as the voice sounded again.
“Pokemon detected! Pokemon detected! Pokemon is: Piplup!” Waterking had managed to keep his cool enough so he could stay on top of it.
“You may come IN!” It was a different voice this time. “But WAIT! There’s someone with you!” Waterking looked back behind him towards me.
“I think they’re talking about you.” He stepped off of it. I glanced down at the grate. I’m sure there’s no way to fall through…
“HEY!” The second voice shouted again. “Come ON! Step on it already!”
I flinched a bit as I walked up onto it. “Pokemon detected! Pokemon detected! Pokemon is: Umm…”
“WHAT is it Diglett?”
“You see- It’s just- I’m not too sure.”
“WHAT!? You ALWAYS know what they are!”
“Ok, ok. Pokemon detected! Pokemon detected! Pokemon is: Torchic!”
“You may PASS!” The loud voice shouted. A gate that was covering the entrance of the tent lifted up.
“This is so scary…” Waterking said as I walked up next to him. We went into the tent. There wasn’t much, just a post that held the tent up, a ladder that went underground, and a sign that said ‘Entrance To Wigglytuff’s Guild’.
We carefully made our way down the ladder. We arrived on the first floor. There were Pokemon everywhere, talking and chatting and looking at some papers hanging on two boards. A bird Pokemon came up to us. “Hello. My name is Chatot. I assume that you two are new here?”
Waterking nodded. “I’m Waterking, and my friend here is Firequeen.” I nodded as he said my name.
Chatot squinted as he looked us up and down. “What, do you think you can just walk in here and become an Exploration Team?”
Waterking and I were surprised by the hostility in his voice. “Well- Erm- We kinda-” He began stuttering as he couldn’t think of anything to answer with.
“CHATOT.” The loud voice from earlier was heard from behind the bird Pokemon. All three of us looked back and saw a Loudred.
“Uh, you’re so loud… What is it?”
“Diglett had a little PROBLEM identifying the Torchic’s FOOTPRINT. They are quite RARE around here.”
Chatot let out a big sign as he closed his eyes. “Fine. Follow me down to the last floor.” He walked over and jumped down the ladder. Me and Waterking followed behind carefully, trying not to fall. To the right of us was what looked like a little potion shop, but no one was there. Waterking ran up to a little grate on the right wall.
“Wow! A window? All the way down here?” He said excitedly.
“We’re in the side of a cliff you know.” Chatot said matter of factly. He stopped in front of two doors somewhat near the window. Knocking on it, he spoke. “Wigglytuff! We’ve got some visitors!”
This chapter was going to have more in it, but I don't want them to be super long
@Jaxoon (Have you been reading this story? I can't remember ._.)
Chapter 4: https://pokemon.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000003572295
Koffing rushed forward at Waterking, blasting Smog at him. Waterking yelped as the smog covered him. I was about to go help him but I couldn’t because Zubat was about to use Supersonic. I hurriedly lunged at him and used Scratch before he could do anything. Waterking quickly backed out of the harmful Smog. I could tell that he wouldn’t be able to take Koffing on by himself.
“Can’t fight weakling?” Koffing taunted at him. “Maybe you-” I cut him off as I knocked him away with my foot. I landed on the ground and turned my head towards Waterking.
“Are you oka-” I winced and covered my ears with my small wings as a terrible sound hit my ears. I painfully peeked my eyes open to see that Zubat had used Supersonic after all. Once it stopped, the room was spinning around me. It was hard to concentrate on one thing.
I thought, There’s no way that Waterking can fight on his own. I tried to focus on where my vision told me Zubat was, and tried using Scratch. I, probably hilariously missed, getting a face full of sand. Koffing and Zubat’s laughter could be heard through the slight ringing in my ears.
Shaking my head forcefully, my vision went back to normal. Waterking had- Somehow- managed to knock out Koffing. “How did you do that?” I asked, keeping my eyes on Zubat.
“I guess my Pound is getting stronger.” He joked.
Zubat looked nervous as it was now a fight of two versus one. I jumped in front of him as he tried to make an escape to the exit. I could feel heat rising in my throat as I let out a ball of fire at my opponent, beating him.
“Woah!” Waterking exclaimed. “What was that?”
I searched my memory for what that was. “I think it was Ember.”
He thought for a moment. “Yeah… I guess you’re right!”
Padding through the sand, I stopped in front of Zubat, who was lying on the ground. “We won. Now according to the deal we made, you give us the stone back.”
He hesitated. “Oh- Fine!” He dropped Waterking’s strange stone on the ground in front of him. “We’re out of here!” He and Koffing swiftly left the room. I picked up the stone and handed it to the Piplup.
“Thank you!” He said, quickly taking the stone in his flippers. “I have to try harder to keep this. Who knows what other Pokemon might try and take it.” He put it away and looked up at me. “I-I’m sorry that I dragged you into this. Do you still want to be an Exploration Team?”
I took a moment to think about what I would say next and how it would affect both of us. Looking back up at him, I smiled. “Let’s go up to Wigglytuff’s Guild.”
Chapter 3: https://pokemon.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000003568703/r/4400000000013667464
We had arrived at the top of a rocky hill with stairs. There was a tent in the shape of a Wigglytuff. In front of the tent was a grate in a circle on the floor.
“Oh- Um… You don’t think I’m going to fall through, do you?” The Piplup asked me
I stared at the grate for a few moments. “No.” I said. “The holes look too small for even your foot to fall through.
He let out a quiet sigh of relief. “Good.” He nervously walked up to the grate and stood on it. We both jumped at the loud voice that came from it
“Pokemon detected! Pokemon detected! Pokemon is: Piplup!
Waterking yelped and jumped off of the grate. He stood a few feet away from it as he spoke. “I- I can’t do it.” He placed a strange stone on the ground and looked up at me. “I found this stone one day while I was taking a walk by myself. I saw it and thought ‘Huh, that’s strange.’ I took it with me because I thought it would bring me good luck.” He looked back down at it. “It’s been helping me get through things in the past. I was sure it was going to help me get enough confidence to get into the guild!
I was about to say something to him but I didn’t have a chance because two Pokemon jumped out from behind the tent. Or- Floated? Flew? I don’t really know. It was a Koffing and a Zubat. Zubat flew over to Waterking. “We’ll be taking that.” He swiftly grabbed Waterking’s stone and started racing down the stairs with Koffing right behind him
“No!” Waterking shouted. He looked back at me. “They’re going down to the beach! Will you help me catch them? Please?” He said, pleading
I nodded. “Yes, I’ll help. But we need to go quickly!” I only got a nod in response as we raced down to the beach
*
Zubat and Koffing stopped at the far end of Krabby Beach. “Where now?” Zubat aske
“There!” Koffing said, turning towards a deep cave. “Let’s go!” The two thief Pokemon raced into the cave
*
By the time we arrived at the beach I was panting and huffing. “There!” Waterking pointed his flipper towards a cave. “That’s a dungeon! They hold many dangerous and wild Pokemon that will attack if they see you.” I squinted as I peered into the cav
“There’s a puff of smoke in the entrance. I think they went in here, I don’t see where else they would go.
“But- But- But that’s Beach Cave!
I looked over my shoulder at him. “Don’t you want your stone?” I asked
He looked conflicted. “Ok fine! Let’s go in and catch those thieves!
I have to rename the story because I found out it's based on Explorers Of Time not Explorers Of Sky
