Rules:
- I can catch any Water type Pokemon available to me, but only one per route.
- I can use only Water type Pokemon in battle.
- If a Pokemon faints, it dies, and cannot be used anymore in battle.
- I can only play on Set Mode.
- No over-leveling past the next Gym leader's highest level Pokemon (over-leveling past Pryce is fine because Johto's level curve is trash)

After beating Whitney, I gave my second Ice Beam TM to Blorp, replacing Growl, then immediately headed to the Pokeathelon to get myself a Water Stone (that's a surprise tool that'll help me later). Through the use of the daycare and grinding against weak wild Poke's, I evolved Emperor Splash into Gyarados and Slips into Quagsire. Right after, my team and I make the journey Northward to Ecruteak. The trainers to be fought along the way were of little to no issue to deal with. I also found the Dig TM in the National Park and gave it to Slips.
Arriving in Ecruteak, the very first thing I did was head right into the Dance Theater and mercilessly pummel the spineless Rocket grunt causing trouble. I was rewarded the Surf HM for my noble act and gifted the move to every member of the team.
The boost in power allowed my team to effortlessly wash away the trainers on the routes toward Olivine. Upon arriving in Olivine, I got the Good Rod. Choosing to save a Water encounter in Olivine for later, I chose to run to Route 42 to fish up a Goldeen named King Koi, and Route 34 to fish up a Krabby named Captain Gnash (Capt Gnash in-game because of character limit). I would keep King Koi as the sixth member of the team, placing Captain Gnash in the PC Box in the meantime.
I would grind my team to the level cap of 25 in preparation for Morty. DRIP would evolve into a Poliwhirl, and, through the use of the Water Stone, into a Poliwrath. I chose not to delay the evolution since the most worthwhile move only Poliwhirl gets is the risky Belly Drum.
Time for Morty. Emperor Splash consumed his Gastly. Gengar was the big issue though. Afraid that the Emperor's low Special Defense against a flurry of STAB Shadow Balls would prove to be his undoing, I wished to switch in DRIP, who has the highest Special Defense compared to everyone else on the team. However, to achieve victory, DRIP would ideally need to be at full health or not be put to sleep by Hypnosis right as I switched him in.
This is where King Koi comes in. As the least valuable and weakest team member, he knew his existence was going to be relegated to death fodder. But as a respectable King who cares for his people, he offered up his life nonetheless. Staring death in the face, he was Mean Looked, sealing his fate. Unleashing a weak Surf and missing his Supersonic, he fell, consumed by the shadow.
A vengeful DRIP enters the battlefield, taking heavy damage from a Shadow Ball, before miraculously hitting Gengar with his own Hypnosis. Calling forth the power of the rain, DRIP slams Gengar with multiple torrential Surfs as Gengar fails to wake up. DRIP comes out as the victor as Gengar rests in an eternal slumber. Much like he did with the Gastly, Emperor Splash devours the two Haunters with ease. The battle is won, ending Part 4.
