Hello everyone hope you're having a wonderful day and today I'm going to be reviewing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet more specifically Scarlett!
At this point I've only played two mainline Pokemon games which are let's go Eevee and Sword with me really enjoying Sword and not really liking Eevee.
I haven't finished Pokémon Scarlet quite yet so I might update this review once I do.
Anyways, in the beginning of the game the visuals are very bad and you can tell that they're very unfinished because for example I noticed when I was going up the stairs at my house( the starting point of the game) it looked like i was going up and escalator and when I changed camera view my shoes were clipping through the stairs.
I don't know how to explain this but it was mostly noticeable in the early part of the game where the character models have these white pixels around them making the game look unfinished.
There's also plenty of clipping and I wish I could show you photos but it never lets me transfer any photos or videos.
Some examples of this is the legendary pokémon which is for some reason our bike clipping through the gym doors
After you finish the long annoying tutorial this is when the game really starts to shine.
Unlike other mainline Pokémon games you are presented with different paths the one of the options being the classic Pokémon route where you be all the gym leaders and beat the elite four and then the champion alongside Nemona, the Titan Route where you get these cool herbs with Arven which is my personal favorite and the one with Team Star and unfortunately I got spoiled when I was trying to find the names of the other two and my prediction was right! All of them except for the third one(which I haven't really gone to interact with) are so charming and I actually care about them and their goals especially Arven who makes me smile especially when he calls me little buddy. Not only are you free to take a different path you can go wherever the heck you want! There's no restraints and you can go to any area when you want it doesn't matter what you have!
Even better you can take the head of your party outside of a Pokeball and they will attack Pokemon close to them or you can call them to attack specific Pokémons and a classic battle won't initiate making it easier to grind.
However it will go back to its Pokeball once it tires itself out. But not to worry you can just take them back out without any wait time!
The only compliant I have about this game is that I find it kind of weird that the legendary Pokémon is just a a bike and we can't really do anything else with it.
I wish I could use it like an actual Pokémon but I do like riding it around.
Also I think all the new Pokémon are ugly as Trubbish so I don't want to catch them and I just don't want to touch them at all.
Also I got a shiny pretty early on in the game :)
I also had a lot of fun finding characters to name after my Pokémon like naming my starter after my favorite Overlord Mare.
Overall this game has some pretty crappy visuals at times with plenty of clipping but I would recommend this game for its story and a high level of freedom that we've never gotten in Pokémon.
Would highly recommend!
