Here’s my thinking: as you evolve porygon, it clearly slowly loses its sanity. And porygon Z is basically a corrupted file, so it would make sense for it to evolve into a missingno. Here’s my reason why we hardly ever encounter missingno if that’s the case: How often do files get corrupted for you? Usually rarely, and when they do, they get deleted. The missingno you find in red and blue could be one that’s been hiding so nobody can delete it. Or it just likes to swim.

A bit rushed, but here you go! Our last spooky cotume is… Alakazam, happy to be cosplaying as Frankenstein!

What if missingno had a shiny?

He is already a normal type

And bird which is just flying

One of his forms is a ghost

Said ghost is a dead marowak, adding the possibility of ground

2 other forms are rock dual types

One of which being rock/water, also leading into the fact that you only encounter them IN water

Also has water gun... twice

Could be bug since he is a literal game bug

A bit of a stretch, but if we count other glitches, he could ALSO be psychic due to mew only being encounterable via a glitch

Or he could have his own type

To go to an even greater stretch, he could be electric and/or steel because he is a game-breaking glitch only appearing bcs of leftover data

Maybe poison because he will corrupt your game data if you catch him, similarly to poison or venom

I rest my case on why missingo is failed arceus before arceus or type: null

Orange looked at the scroll, the writing barely legible, and frowned. Where was it? He had walked across the shore for nothing, now his feet were wet from walking in the water.

He started to tear up, and threw the scroll into the water, and it floated away into the Kanto sea.

Orange walked forward, squealing as he tripped, falling backwards into the water. He tried to pull himself up, but the water held him back, dragging him underneath.

He tried to scream, tried to breathe, but his vision was slowly going black...

He woke up, his clothes damp, on the shore of Cinnabar Island. It was the evening now. The sky was a distinct purple, mixed with blue, as only half of the sun was visible. He got up and looked around, but the buildings of Cinnabar Island were gone. The Seafoam Islands and Pallet Town weren't visible at all, there was only a grass island, empty with Orange alone.

Orange reached for one of his pokeballs, and tried to release the Pokémon inside.

He clicked the button, and there was a loud screaming noise. Orange screamed too, dropping the pokeball in the water. He gasped at it, the pokeball's button screeching, before it finally stopped. The Pokeball stayed shut. Orange picked up the pokeball, and turned to look at the ocean, and the slowly descending sun.

Above the water, something appeared. It was like a purple line. More appeared, about six more, they were strange, almost code-like rectangles, and then it stopped. More rectangles, about three quarters of the size, appeared on the right side of it, building up until it was about three times the size of Orange.

An eye appeared at the top left corner, which was about halfway down the creature. It looked at Orange and let out a cry, sounding like a mixture of Charizard and Rattata, before a skeleton of a flying, bird-like Pokémon peered over the top. At the right side, a giant ball of gas, similar to ghastly looked at him, and on the right side, another skeleton of a bipedal pokemon with claws, grabbed onto the code-like creature and peered at him.

Orange whimpered, as the creature spoke. Their voice was like their cry, but it somehow formed into words. Orange shouldn't have been able to understand them, but he did.

"Here we go again."

This rotom some how possessed a pokeball that contains a missingno, so now they have a symbiotic relationship, missingno gets an immunity to ground types, and rotom gets its immunity to normal and fighting again

Glitches ether make that game easyer (so cheating), or it could break your save file or system, so dark was fitting
