Diamond & Pearl is honestly my favorite generation of the bunch, with Ruby & Sapphire being a close second. It had great Pokémon (for the most part...), great characters, and - of course - a great anime and manga adaptation (for the manga adaptation, I'm talking about Adventures. I haven't read Diamond & Pearl Adventure yet). However, something strange does happen when they reached Galactic Battles. You see, in Diamond & Pearl, they introduced Dawn as the first of the three Sinnoh protagonists. Battle Dimension? They brought Barry over, and gave him his iconic gag of fining people like in the games. So for Galactic Battles, I was expecting that they'd bring in Lucas as a childhood friend of Dawn and have Lucas disguise himself as a Team Galactic Grunt to figure out the evil team's plans like he did in the manga, then join the group when it was all over.
However, excluding ONE movie cameo (which also counts as Brendan's third movie cameo), Lucas didn't appear alongside his Sinnoh companions at all in the anime itself. Whatever happened that caused Viz Media to scrap the idea of bringing in one protagonist of Diamond & Pearl one season and another one the next?! They did it with Dawn and Barry! Why not Lucas? I get that they couldn't find a voice actor at the time, but I've done my research and I know a few voice actors that could fit the role.
If - and keyword being if, if you're not paying attention and off doing something else (which isn't a bad thing, but still) - they had managed to find a voice actor for Lucas in Galactic Battles (most likely Ted Lewis because how could you not after his performance as Yami Bakura), I felt like what should've been done with him is give him a backstory that connects his childhood with Dawn's and Barry's, making the three childhood friends. If they ever decide to introduce Lucas in Journeys, they can do the same thing. Also, I'd like to have him make rivals with a Team Rocket member that's not Jessie & James. Specifically, one that was in the special that took place sometime after the first movie. You know who I'm on about.
Voice Actors Who I'd Think Would Like To Voice Lucas:
Ted Lewis
Marc Thompson
Eric Vale
Dameon Clarke
Ted Cole
Kyle Hebert
