She got distracted by the voice. It had been so long since she heard anyone else talk that wasn’t herself. Noticing the lack of Ultra Balls being thrown, Kawauso quickly used Ice Beam to defeat the Mamoswine. Peacock huffed quietly in frustration while she turned to the source of the voice. To her surprise, it was Irida, the leader of the Pearl Clan.
“What are you doing out here? It’s been a while since the last time I’ve seen you.”
“Training.”
She glanced at the fainted Pokemon. “Oh sorry about that.” Turning her head back, she started talking again. “Have you been eating less? You look skinnier than usual.”
“Oh- Erm- Yeah. I’ve mostly just been having berries.” At least that wasn’t a total lie. Without going to the village, there weren’t very many options for food. She would go pick berries while her Pokemon helped her. Despite how good they were, it was a bit repetitive eating them everyday. And they certainly weren’t as good as Potato Mochi.
She was holding her hands behind her back and glancing around nervously. She didn’t want to spend too long talking. “Well would you want to come to the village?” Irida asked. “We could make you something.”
“Oh no no! I wouldn’t want to intrude.” Peacock quickly put her Pokemon back into their PokeBalls.
“It wouldn’t be any troub-”
“NO!”
Both of them froze. Peacock immediately felt bad. “I- Um. I’m sorry.” She lowered her head a little and started backing up towards Briaviary. “I should just go.”
“Yeah, that would probably be best.” The Pearl Clan leader turned around and walked back.
Silently she climbed onto Braviary. He turned his head back to look at her. “Just… Take me back to the Obsidian Fieldlands.” She closed her eyes as the cold wind hit her in the face when Braviary lifted off.

Peacock hadn’t done much since they landed back in the Fieldlands. Just lay on the grass in the corner of two rocks. Braviary looked concerned. She glanced at him. “I’m fine, you can leave and stop worrying about me.” He hesitated, but flew off a few hundred feet. The trainer’s eyelids got heavy and she drifted into sleep

The next morning, Peacock felt MUCH better than the day before. Apparently pushing things to the back of your mind isn’t such a bad idea after all. She woke up with a stretch. Senko Hanabi had gotten out of his PokeBall and slept beside her to make sure they weren’t attacked. She sat up and patted his head.
“You know what?” He woke and looked up at her. “I should go catch some Pokemon.”
“Jolt!”
“By my own, silly.” She tapped his forehead with his PokeBall.
Standing up, she looked around. “Might as well go for a walk while I look.” She murmured to herself. She started to wander around, while trying to be quiet of course. And looking for Pokemon.
Right on the edge of a patch of tall grass, stood an Eevee. Its muzzle was lowered into the smaller grass, sniffing. Near it was a big rock. ‘Perfect.’ Peacock thought. ‘I can climb onto that, then sneak attack and throw a ball.’ She silently crept towards the rock. ‘Was that a shadow under the rock…?’ Peacock shook her head and pushed the thought away.
She arrived at the top. Quietly, she reached into her satchel and pulled out a PokeBall. She crouched down, raised her arm, and jumped forward, moving her arm in a throwing motion. Just a few more moments and that Eevee would-
