Hi trainers!
Recently, it has come to the Discussion Staff's attention that several users, both new and old, have been unable to follow the necroposting rules and guidelines.
This post will serve as a reminder and an official clarification on the rule.
Scenario #1
This will apply to most instances of necroposting. On several wikis across Fandom, they have different rules regarding what is considered necroposting. Here on the Pokémon Wiki, it is when the most recent reply on a post is older than 5 days. The easiest way to check this, and the way that most staff word it, is by checking if the last reply shows a visible date instead of having (for example) “2d” or “32m” e.t.c.
This is considered necroposting:
I will be banning test subject @MeowCatMultiply
This is not considered necroposting:
Thanks to @PeacockFeatheredRaccoon for being my test dummy ☺️
Scenario #2
At any given moment, if necessary, a member of discussions staff is permitted to break the necroposting rule if it is completely necessary. Most of the time it won’t be needed, but do not complain if you see a staff necroposting unless they aren’t doing it for proper staff use.
Scenario #3
Certain post categories are exempt from the necroposting rule.
The following categories are allowed to be replied to even if they would usually clarify as a necroposting:
Events and Contests
Important Posts
Roleplay
In rare occasions the Staff Announcement category may be included.
What to do if you see someone necroposting?
If you see someone necroposting, immediately copy the link to the reply and send a report to the discussions staff via the Pokémon Centre Post with the reason for the report.
You can copy the link by pressing the three dots on the reply and selecting “Copy Link”.
Format a necropost report similar to this. Thanks to @Super Sailor Ninja Taurus for being another test dummy 👍. (Hey good job on consistently reporting, helps out a ton :D)
