The group of you are from all over the place, from various regions. You're all here in Alola, mostly all for different reasons, but you all stuck together as part of a group.

You start off in Iki Town, over by Route 1. After meeting Sun, Lillie, Kukui, Hau, and Kahuna Hala, who explains the region's history, the Island Challenge, and the culture and the Guardians, he invites you to see the Ruins of Conflict on the Mahalo Trail.

However, that's when things take a turn to the bizarre real quick.

You barely make it out of the brush when you're immediately greeted by a combat knife with something oily (and probably deadly) slathered all over the blade, just sitting there on the ground.

Kahuna Hala: "What in the...?"

Then you see him. Unconscious on the bridge, large poncho, beret with a two-headed bear insignia and the words "NEW CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC" on it, and glasses, too.

Kahuna Hala: "By the Tapus! Who is this?!"

And then you spot the rest of the guy's weapons. A lever-action rifle with something that resembles a dream catcher and a rawhide wrap on the stock, a heavy Hunting Shotgun, and, a Hunting Rifle. Was this guy preparing for a civil war or something?

You wonder what his origin is, not realizing that by just SEEING this man, all of you have gotten yourselves into one complex, dangerous, and insane web involving getting him home.
