They have reasons like Beserker's beard being based off of Vikings and Alolan Golem being (I think) based off of Greek people, who tend to be very hairy.
When the hairy animals get hairier:
The weirdest hair evolution in my opinion are Alolan Dugtrio and Mega Ampharos
