I honestly kinda like them. Pineco is a bit basic in design, but I like the advancement in design and concept it has with Forretress. I also wouldn't call Pineco the worst design in terms of appearance, even if it comes off as a lazy appearance to some.
A lot of people are like "OMG WHY NOT GRASS TYPE CUZ PINECONE" when they are meant to be bagworms, which disguise themselves in pinecone-like chrysalises. I like how Forretress uses that concept and instead of collecting grass and leaves for a harder shell, it collects ACTUAL STEEL. And it grows CANNONS??? Wild.
Also, the fact that Forretress is one of those "mystery 'mons" where it's actually hidden inside a shell the entire time and nobody knows what's inside. I think that is a cool aspect of it that's easily shoved aside by Mimikyu doing the same thing while being cuter.
