I can mostly agree with this. As for me, I don't exactly "hate" N, I just think that there are way better characters out there, and I don't like it when people go, "OMG, N is the best rival I've ever seen! 20/10!". Like, come on. Look at Silver, Lillie, and Gladion, for example. They also have daddy/mommy issues. But they also have 100 times better written personalities and character development.

N is a character from Pokémon Black, White, Black 2 and White 2. He is the puppet leader of Team Plasma, which wants two separate worlds for humans and Pokémon. There is a question about whether or not N is actually human and not just a Pokémon, Zoroark, casting an illusion. Consider the facts: In one part of the Black 2/White 2 game, you follow a Zoroark into a set of ruins and find N there, with the Zoroark missing. Their hair is similarly shaped, N was raised among Pokémon and can understand them, and he speaks unnaturally fast and awkwardly throughout the games.

Zoroarks have been known to appear as humans in the Black and White games and can sometimes copy the speech patterns of whom they are pretending to be. It would make more sense for a Pokémon to want to separate the world, seeing how often they are abused and used as tools to gain power by their trainers.

Ok, I am a little late, but I have to say something. I want to emphasize that I am not trying to change your opinion and I also don't want to force my opinion on you, but I disagree and want to fix some of your points that you seem to have gotten wrong and explain why I love N as a character. (Although I do agree with your points in Black 2 and White 2).

N is actually a very good character, at least in Black and White (not so much in Black 2 and White 2).

The "I can talk to Pokemon" part of him is explained that he was an orphan and he was raised around Pokemon. He was adopted by Ghethis. He was made King to be manipulated and tricked by Ghethis to be his puppet so Ghethis could rule over Unova. After Team Plasma fails, N starts to realize his mistakes and comes to realize how evil Team Plasma really is. It is a great realization moment for him and a great character moment and changes his personality to save pokemon instead of "liberating" (stealing) them in the second games.

Another thing I like is that he almost won. He came pretty close, but losing to the protagonist, it foils Ghethis plans and it is revealed that Ghethis never really loved N as a father would. It shows that he never was considered a son to his adoptive father.

Black 2 and White 2, he isn't very present, but he says to the protagonist that you remind him of the Black and White protagonist showing that he admires you from Black and White and how you showed him the right path.

N is either my 1 or 2 favorite pokemon black and white character and top 5 favorite pokemon characters of all time.

I'm sorry for this long tangent, but I wanted to explain how good of a character N actually is because people don't seem to know the depth that N as a character has.

Well, I thought N had a lot of character development. People have such different opinions huh.

I haven't played either BW or BW2 but I do know that he definitely starts having doubts towards Ghetsis, also it's never been confirmed that he's Ghetsis's son. Just a boy with the powers to talk to Pokemon snapped up by Ghetsis as a tool for his regime. Characters with unusual powers are usually much more than just their powers, N becomes more aware.
