It's common in Manga or Comics to shade black lol and I wouldn't describe it as a big nono. You can create cool contrasts with it, just like you did. You're a great artist!

Wait- isn't shading supposed to be black? I mean, that's what darkness looks like

shading with black makes most art look unattractive, rather than shading with just a darker color

but when you shade, dont literally just make the shade a darker color of the original. shade green with blue, or yellow with orange, and that stupid stuff
